Episode 2, Patch 2.6.

This is a very important patch that fixes a number of ongoing bugs and overhauls some background systems.

Playthrough Restarts Required

Because of the changes, you MUST restart your playthroughs from the beginning of the game. Saves from before the patch will not work correctly and will result in continuity and approval errors.

If you keep Wayfarer running in a tab, please either refresh your browser or close the tab and open the game in a new one. This is the only way to ensure the patch takes effect.

Autosaves & Browser Saves

  • Autosave is not a reliable save on some browsers and may result in loading the wrong metadata or corrupted companion approval and faction rapport. Only use it as a last resort.
  • You will lose your browser saves if you clear your cache or browser history.
  • The best way to save your playthroughs is to use Save to Disk to make a save manually to your device. These manual saves can be renamed once downloaded. Use Load from Disk to load a manual save. Always save when prompted. Keeping a save from the end of Episode 1 and Episode 2 is highly recommended.

Patch Notes

Gameplay Fixes

  • The player should no longer gain unintended romance points with Aeran when on the friendship path.
  • Aeran’s romance has been rebalanced and a variety of flags added for tracking continuity. This will primarily affect low (under 60) romance routes.
  • Aeran’s approval and romance ranges have been locked to a range of 5-95 instead of 0-100. The only time his romance will be recorded as 0 is if the MC either breaks off their romance or their relationship deteriorates enough to remove his romance flag.
  • Veyer’s impression points now are locked to a range, preventing them from going below 0.
  • You can no longer access saves when the game menus are open. This is to prevent an error that caused players to be unable to close the Journal after loading a save made when the Journal was open.
  • If you encounter ongoing issues with the Journal and other game menus not closing properly, it can be be fixed by refreshing your browser. (This may not work in the itch.io app).

Lore/Character

  • Alassar is no longer capitalized.
  • Magic classifications are no longer capitalized (i.e. dustforger, brightwarden, not Dustforger or Brightwarden), but specialized jobs remain capitalized (Brightblade, Wayfarer, etc).

Other

  • Various spelling/grammar fixes.

When will episode 3 be released?

I don't suppose there's any chance of getting a "click through to set your state before you start Chapter 3" option? The sheer number of possible outcomes for each encounter is fantastic as far as actual game experience goes, but it also means I'm having a LOT of trouble getting myself back to where I was.

I absolutely understand why a feature like that would be helpful! But unfortunately it's not possible because of how some continuity flags are referenced and coded. I know how daunting it is to try to re-capture your original playthrough, but it's the cost of having variation and replay value. When it comes to replicating playthroughs, I would try to focus on triggering the broad strokes of what you did before and let the smaller details fall where they fall. But if you have specifics that you are struggling with, the community in Wayfarer's Discord server is more than happy to help out with walkthroughs.

Since it isn't possible to convert old to new saves, nor to create a tool to quickly reconstruct our arc and jump straight to the new chapters, is there any way to make the save files human-readable (to see which choices were made)?

That way we could repeat the same choices (in so far as they haven't changed) and reconstruct (approximately) the same save, without having to remember everything we did on the prior play-through.

You can decode Twine saves with an online save editor, but the information may not make much sense unless you are familiar with how the game was coded. It's not a good way to track what choices you have taken because there are hundreds of small choices outside the major ones that are recorded in a number of different ways.

If you want a summary of your character's most important actions in Episodes 1 and 2, check the Story Log  (available in the Journal).

Did it change before with Aeran...? When you guys fight? Or do I just not have enough romance points? O_o

Nevermind, don't mind me. I missed a few steps in the beginning. Derp. It's been a hot minute since I've played it and forgot what I needed to do. XD

Can I ask how you’re able to get the romance scene at the end of 2 with him? Maxed out my romance points but I’m missing something lol

I honestly saved before my MC spoke to him. Lol. Whichever lowered his points, I loaded my save and then selected another option.

And okay, so you have max romance points? I do too and I got a good scene in chapter 2 after the fight with him. Uh, I didn't go with any other people. That would ruin that with him. And I also didn't flirt with anyone else either. Did you get the scene where you go to his room and he tells you to leave? I'm assuming that means you don't have enough points with him. (You have the romance points and then the other points. I was at 95 Loving and then 85 Romance).

Thank you! I didn’t have enough romance points cause I was leaving Rona conscious lol. It really did make all the difference.

Oh yay! Glad you got it figured out!

To start game again? So big changes, indeed!
