Wayfarer Episode 2 Launch

Episode 2 Has Launched!

The complete episode is now available to play on the public build. This is a massive update that adds 340,000 words of new content to the game, with multiple paths, consequences, and outcomes. An average playthrough of the episode is 81,000 words, or around 4.4 hours of gameplay.

To ensure the update works properly on a browser:

  • Launch the game from a fresh tab or window (if you keep the game running in a tab over multiple days, you will not be playing on the newest file)
  • Do not launch in incognito mode
  • If your save file is from September 2021, you MUST start a new file
  • If you encounter errors at launch, please read Troubleshooting Game Launch & Save Errors
  • Use Save to Disk to save to your device rather than your browser. This will prevent save data loss if your browser clears its history and you lose your browser saves.

✦ New Story Content

Episode 2 picks up a month after where Episode 1 left off and includes:

  • The Wayfarer and Aeran’s arrival in Velantis
  • Surprise politics!
  • Two new factions to make an impression on, for good or ill
  • Name your sword and choose its history
  • A fancy gala
  • The introduction of several major recurring characters and potential romance interests
  • Actors! Theatre! Art!
  • Lore (oh so much lore)
  • A (potential) entanglement of a certain nature… or two
  • The ripple effects of your past choices as the story continues to evolve around you

✦ Game Statistics

Episodes Released Prologue, Episode 1, Episode 2
Average Word Count Per Playthrough 156,000 words
Average Playtime 8.5 hours
Total Cumulative Word Count 927,000 words

✦ Bug Report

If you encounter a bug, please file a bug report through the official form. Bug reports will not be processed until August at the earliest.

✦ Discord

Wayfarer has an official Discord server! It's a chill place to chat with other players about the game, your playthroughs, the characters, lore, and possible theories about what might happen next. Invite link here! (Please note that the server is 17+ only.)

✦ Episode 3

Episode 3 is currently in development. The first scene of the episode will be available on my Patreon in August.

✦ Thank You, Playtesters & Patrons!

A huge thank you to the playtester team for their incredible work checking for errors and bugs, and thank you to all my patrons! Wayfarer would not be possible without their generous support, and I would never have been able to create Episode 2 without them.

If you’ve enjoyed Wayfarer and would like to support my work, please consider supporting the game's development on Patreon! Patrons receive access to the alpha build, private channels in the Discord server, exclusive previews, bonus content, and other benefits.

Wayfarer is a passion project and creating it is a full-time commitment. Any little bit goes a long way to help me bring it to fruition.

Enjoy Episode 2! 💕

Hi, just some thoughts after finishing Episode 2.

Have you ever considered to implement MC's reaction on NPC's actions? Something like already existing Companion or Factions reactions on MC's words / actions but mirrored. Mmmm probably would require a personality description in the Character creation part, like MC who likes honesty will be disappointed with people lying to them or MC who treasures a personal freedom will hate coercion and so on. Well little late for that at this state and probably don't really necessary because of a self-insertion. Anyway, just wanted to share the thought.

Also, defiance choices in dialogs / actions maybe? Occurred to me when I saw the option "shave it" in the hairdressing scene. Like - to shave your head just out of spite, or to break your sword in half instead of letting some dirty paws to touch it. Probably too much trouble to implement and too little profit to get, yet again - just a thought :)

BTW really nice Episode 2, found a character to whom I totally going to give the artefact (together with MC's body and soul) after I'll break the pact with the Guild. Not sure if they really need it though. The artefact I mean :)

I have a question! I love the story so far (i havent started episode two yet) but will there be options to have a less talkitive mc? Most of the time when I choose the silent option my mc is considered rude toward anyone talking to them.

Is it normal for save files to be gone? :( my save files aren't there anymore

Yeah, they said for those who played during September you have to replay the game again, that's what I remembered at least.

If your browser saves have been deleted, it is an issue with your browser or browser extensions (or you manually cleared your cache). This is specifically a problem on iOS as iPhones automatically clear the cache after a certain amount of time.

Clearing your browser history, cache, and cookies will delete your browser saves!

  • If it is not a browser extension causing the problem, then try the following:
  • Use a different browser
  • Save using Save to Disk. This will create a manual save that is stored on your device, which you can upload into the game at a later point. You can make as many Save to Disk saves as you want and you can rename the save file after you download it. (Note: some phones may not be able to download saves, it depends on the individual phone and its features). It is highly recommended that you make Save to Disk saves periodically regardless in case something happens to your browser cache.
  • If you're playing on desktop, try using the itch.io desktop app instead of a browser
